South Devon Ramblers

Welcome to walking in South Devon!

When We Walk

Our walks programme includes regular wellbeing walks, two weekly walks (on Thursdays and Sundays), monthly "Oh! So Easy" and "Tea Shop" walks for those who prefer shorter distances (and a meal or drink at the end of their walks).

Regardless of the length of a walk, the leaders will be experienced walkers with appropriate navigational skills for the terrain.

Wellbeing Walks  South Devon Ramblers support regular local Wellbeing Walks for those either permanently or temporarily less able to do longer rambles. These walks are very popular, free to join and very sociable. For more information see Wellbeing Walks.
Thursday Walks (Weekly) Our Thursday walks are usually between 5 and 8 miles and can be anywhere in the area that we cover.
Sunday Walks (Weekly) Sunday walks are usually between 8 and 11 miles, and provide a more strenuous outing for members and guests.
Oh! So Easy Walks (Monthly) We organise an Oh! So Easy walk on the first Tuesday of each month. These walks are leisurely strolls of no more than 3 miles, typically on flat terrain, and if possible, are followed by an optional pub lunch.
Tea Shop Walks (Monthly) We organise a Tea Shop walk on the third Tuesday of each month Tea Shop walks are usualy about 5 miles long and there will be an opportunity to have a snack lunch, cream tea or similar at the end.

Where We Walk

As we are lucky enough to be based in South Devon, we have all of the region's beauty on our doorstep to explore!

Typical places you could expect to find yourself on a walk might be:

  • Beautiful Bigbury-on-Sea on the stunning South West Coast Path.
  • Wild and wonderful Belstone in Dartmoor National Park.
  • Villages and woodland around Sidmouth and Otterton.
  • Historical points of interest in Exeter or Torquay.
  • Narrow lanes and amazing coast around Noss Mayo.

This is just a tiny selection of the sort of places we walk! See our Our Walks Programme for full details.

What Else Do We Do?

As well as all of these many day walks, we offer walking holidays (in the UK and abroad) and a number of social activities in the local area. See Holidays and Events for more information on these.
