As a rule, the South Devon Ramblers group doesn't get involved in other charities' fundraising efforts. In 2026, however, the group will be taking part in a couple of charity events for Devon Air Ambulance and Dartmoor Search and Rescue - Tavistock. We're doing this as a way of showing our appreciation for the brilliant support that we received from these organisations when we called upon them in December 2025 as a result of one of our walkers sustaining an injury while on Dartmoor.
Devon Air Ambulance
On Saturday 4th July 2026 Lesley and Mike Wilkin both walked 26 miles from Bigbury as part of Devon Air Ambulance's Heli Hike 2026. We're delighted to report that the total they raised for Devon Air Ambulance was more than £1200; thank you very, very much to everyone who donated.

Dartmoor Search and Rescue - Tavistock
On Saturday 19th September 2026 Dartmoor Search and Rescue - Tavistock are hosting their annual fundraiser, The 11 Tors Challenge. The route is approximately 11 miles and is organised and run by Dartmoor Search and Rescue - Tavistock, so everyone taking part can be sure that they're in very safe hands! Registration is compulsory and costs £17 per person. Sponsorship is not compulsory but would be very much appreciated.
